Safeguarding Policy
Aims:
Your-English-Tutor.online has a child protection policy in place and follows NSPPC child protection policies. In line with the Keeping Children Safe In Education (KCSIE) policies, it is important to reassure parents and students that I am up-to-date with my safeguarding training, and will continue to refresh and review knowledge and application of safeguarding policies and procedures that reflect current safeguarding legislation and guidance.
In all lessons, I aim to provide a safe online environment where each student can learn in their home surroundings under the care of qualified and professionally experienced a DBS checked tutor.
My responsibilities:
To ensure that the welfare of each student is at the forefront of my planning, teaching and all communication which takes place during my tuition.
To ensure that all communication will be sent electronically via email, and where a student is under 18 years, all correspondence will include the provided parental email address to ensure parents and students are given the same information at all times.
To promote my belief that all children regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation or identity, have a right to equal participation to each lesson and equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.
To ensure that children, young people, their parents or carers know where to go if they have a concern or need support.
I will seek to keep children and young people safe by:
- Ensuring I have an enhanced DBS check each year and that this is professionally checked and displayed on my website.
- Valuing them, listening to, and respecting them.
- Adopting child protection practices through procedures and a code of conduct at all times
- Encouraging an open-door policy where parents can attend lessons without notice and be a presence for as long as they wish.
- Reporting safeguarding concerns immediately, sensitively and correctly to the relevant bodies.
- Ensuring that I complete safeguarding training at regular intervals and I keep abreast of change in policy and procedure.
- Reviewing this policy and good practice annually.
Reporting a safeguarding concern:
If a student trusts me with information about any form of abuse or tells me that another child is being abused, I will follow the advised NSPCC and KCSIE procedures:
- Ensuring the young person that their concerns have been listened to seriously and sensitively.
- Asking only open questions which do not lead the information they are sharing. Making detailed, factual notes which will then shared with the relevant body, with this depending on the nature of the disclosure.
- Making it very clear that I cannot promised not to share information they have imparted, as some of this may need to be shared in order to keep them safe.
- Reassuring them and ensuring that they understand the next steps which will be taken in order to ensure that they are safe.
- Contacting the Safeguarding Lead for the relevant Local Authority or at the child’s school. If I am concerned that the child is in immediate danger, I will call the police.
If a parent or care giver suspects any form of misconduct by Louise Scotcher, Your-English-Tutor.online, this should be reported to the relevant Local Authority with details about the concern and any supporting evidence.
